When I got old enough to notice ...This is so great! When I got old enough to notice a difference in our family's look, my mother made me a book that told my story. She filled it with fun illustrations and told the story of my birth parents, and their decision to give me away. Then how my family came to adopt me and how my life began with my new family. I still have it and it was such a great way to learn about myself and my wonderful parents and new family. My mom repeated it for my brother when we brought him home. I'm so glad that there are books out there that talk about similar situations because back in my adoption days it was rare and still looked down upon to have mixed race adoptions.
